2022 Trafficking in Persons Report

July 19, 2022

Today, Secretary Blinken released the annual Trafficking in Persons Report, which reviews how countries around the world – including the United States – have progressed in their efforts to prosecute traffickers, protect victims, and prevent trafficking. We are proud to work closely with the Moldovan government and civil society advocates to combat human trafficking, a crime which is nothing short of modern-day slavery. The report includes recommendations for all countries reviewed to improve their anti-trafficking practices. We are pleased that Moldova’s Parliament plans this year to discuss legislation to strengthen labor inspections and enact other recommended reforms to better identify and protect victims. Whether a refugee, a migrant, or in their own country, every person should be protected from human trafficking.
