Friends, partners, honored guests: Welcome to America Days!
First, I would like to thank Prime Minister Dorin Recean for being part of this important event. Your presence clearly shows the partnership and friendship that the United States and Moldova have built over decades.
I also want to warmly welcome deputy Secretary of State Richard Verma, who is here onstage with me. Deputy Secretary Verma is on a visit to several countries in Europe. We’re so pleased to have you here to witness the strength of the partnership between the United States and the Republic of Moldova. Deputy Secretary, welcome!
America Days is designed to bring a small piece of United States culture to Moldova. That’s why we’re happy to share our American food, American music, American sports, and American movies.
Since Moldova’s independence, the United States has invested over $2 billion in helping Moldovans build a democratic, prosperous, and secure future. Russia’s unprovoked aggression in Ukraine is an unprecedented challenge, but European integration is a major opportunity. We are here to help you in all the ways we can.
We are proud that so many of our Moldovan partners are here today. As you enjoy America Days, please take a moment to learn more about the work we are doing together to help improve the lives of all Moldovans. I want to recognize just a few of key partners, who are here with us today, such as the America House Chisinau, La Strada, the National Army with their CPR/First Aid knowledge, and the World Health Organization just to name a few. Your presence here today shows the enduring strength of our partnership.
I also want to encourage you to visit the Meet an American tent where my embassy colleagues and other fellow Americans will be present to talk to you and answer any questions that you might have about life in the United States.
I would like to thank Cheer-IE cheerleaders for the fantastic performance. We are proud of you and all our other exchange program alumni!
