Announcing a Study Tour in the U.S. for Journalists from Central and Eastern Europe

The Fulbright program invites practicing journalists to apply for a two-week study visit to the U.S. aimed at building skills, knowledge and awareness related to reporting on complex issues.

The study tour will include a combination of custom professional workshops, discussions with experienced journalists and media representatives who have relevant experience and portfolios, opportunities for networking, as well as visits to media organizations of interest in and around Washington D.C. and New York City.

Candidates should be practicing journalists with a minimum of one year of professional journalism experience from Albania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovak Republic. We welcome journalists working in all fields, but those focusing on science reporting, public health, economics and other data-heavy fields are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a working knowledge of English and be able to participate in discussions, as translation will not be provided for the study tour.
