Demonstration Alert – U.S. Embassy Chisinau, Moldova
Location: Downtown Chisinau
Event: On Sunday, May 7 at 1:00 PM, a protest is being planned by “Movement for the People” in front of the Parliament on Stefan cel Mare.
On Monday, May 8 at 6:00 PM, the “1418 Days and Nights” event, organized by the Communist party, will take place at the Eternity Memorial.
On Tuesday, May 9 from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, the “Immortal Regiment” march will start at the Triumphal Arch, march down Stefan cel Mare, then Ismail Street and end at the Eternity Memorial. Roads and intersections along the route will be closed to vehicle traffic.
Also on May 9, a “Victory” motor vehicle rally will take place at as yet undisclosed time. The rally will start from the Great National Assembly Square, and the column will drive through the central streets of Chisinau. The streets are not typically closed to other traffic during the rally.
Even peaceful demonstrations can turn dangerous at any time. U.S. citizens are encouraged to avoid the area.

- Expect traffic delays and road closures
