Demonstration Message for U.S. Citizens: Demonstrations on July 17-18, 2015

The U.S. Embassy in Chisinau informs U.S. citizens in Moldova that Christians from the church “Saint Mother Matroana” organized a religious march on July 17th in Chisinau. The march will start on July 17th at 07:00 on Dacia Blvd. and Valea Crucii str. intersection (city’s gates), move on to Ciocana District, then move on to Riscani District, then move on to Durlesti, and on to Telecentru District. Along the way, they will stop at some churches. The march will end on July 18th at the Nativity Cathedral at about 07:30. About 2000 people are expected to take part. Traffic will be blocked on streets while the group will be marching.

The Embassy reminds U.S. citizens that demonstrations and large events intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational.  Avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.  Large public gatherings can affect all major incoming arteries to the city in which they occur.  Demonstrations in one city have the potential to lead to additional public rallies or demonstrations in other locations around the city and country.
