The U.S. Embassy in Chisinau develops and supports a wide range of English Teaching Programs aimed at strengthening English teaching and learning in Moldova.

Program For Teachers of English:

  • Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA)

The Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA) provides outstanding secondary school teachers of English, social studies, math, science, and special education with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge about the United States. Teachers come to the United States from all world regions for a six-week academic program at a U.S. university graduate school of education.

The applicants must have citizenship and live permanently in the Republic of Moldova (permanent residents of the Transnistrian region may be considered regardless of citizenship)

On-line Programs

  • American English Webinar Series

The “American English Webinars Series”  is a free, online professional development program for English teachers around the globe that addresses methodological topics to foster interactive, student-centered language instruction.  The webinar series are live seminars with 6 online sessions, each lasting 60 minutes.  Topics are selected based on a needs analyses of current issues in global English teaching. Presenters are American English teaching specialists.  Participants who attend 4 out of the 6 webinars are eligible to receive e-certificates. Visit http://americanenglishwebinars.com  for more details.

  • English Access Micro Scholarship Programs

The English Access Micro scholarship Program (Access) provides free English language classes to talented 13-20 year-olds from economically disadvantaged backgrounds through after-school classes and intensive sessions. The program allows students to develop intercultural skills and communication, gain an appreciation for American culture and democratic values, participate successfully in the socio-economic development of their countries, and compete for and strengthen their ability to participate in future U.S. exchange and study programs.  The program is financed by the U.S Government and run locally by American Councils for Education in Moldova. The applicants must have citizenship and live permanently in the Republic of Moldova (permanent residents of the Transnistrian region may be considered regardless of citizenship).
