Laura Hruby is the Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau and a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. Prior to this assignment, she represented the United States as the Deputy Chief of Mission in Cotonou, Benin. Since joining the diplomatic service in 2002, she has also served in Moscow, Russia; Istanbul, Turkey; Islamabad, Pakistan; and Baku, Azerbaijan. In Washington, she has served in the Bureaus of Consular Affairs and African Affairs.
Laura is a distinguished graduate of the National Defense University, where she received a Master of Science degree in Strategic Security Studies. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. Laura speaks Russian and French, and is studying Romanian. A native of Hudson, Ohio, she is joined in Chisinau by her husband and their two sons.
