Today, July 9, U.S. Ambassador James D. Pettit traveled to Ungheni to hand over the keys for a modern bucket truck to the Ungheni Municipality. Donated by the United States Agency for International Development, this bucket truck is a modern aerial work platform with a hydraulic lifting system used to maintain telecommunication and lighting systems, manage green spaces and perform other tasks requiring workers to safely ascend to heights of up to 18 meters. With this new, modern bucket truck, the Ungheni municipality will be able to improve a wide variety of city services, thus enriching the lives of its citizens.
At today’s ceremony, Ambassador Pettit noted that “The United States has been working with local governments throughout Moldova to build their capacity to better serve their constituents and Ungheni is a great example and testament to the progress we’ve achieved together.”
This bucket truck is one of 33 pieces of specialized heavy equipment donated to 32 Moldovan towns by the United States Agency for International Development’s Local Government Support Project during 2014 and 2015.
