MoA Signing

April 28, 2022

Over the past 30 years, the United States and the Republic of Moldova have built a strong partnership based on shared values and common interests.  In that time, our relationship has had a positive impact on countless people in both of our countries.

Today, the United States and the Republic of Moldova signed a Memorandum of Agreement to proceed with the sale of property where a new U.S. Embassy and a new public park will be constructed. When complete, this new park and building will reflect the strong state of our partnership and allow our work together to continue to flourish.  As a demonstration of our commitment to continuing to build our strong relationship through this project, we expect the new public park to be opened to the people of Moldova well before the Embassy itself is completed.

Today’s signature is one important step in a process that will result in a brand-new public park, restoration of the iconic stadium gates, and a world-class diplomatic campus that demonstrate the strength and endurance of the partnership between our two countries.

“The United States is committed to continuing to enhance our partnership with the Republic of Moldova.  Today’s action is an important step toward building a new embassy to support that relationship as well as opening a new public park for the people of Chisinau,” said U.S. Ambassador Kent Logsdon. “I thank the government and the people of Moldova for following through on a commitment that was first made in 2015 to allow us to purchase a site for the construction of our new Embassy. I look forward to the United States being a strong partner – and to the new Embassy being a good neighbor – for years to come.”
