Since 2013, United States Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Section (INL) in Moldova have supported International Organization for Migration (IOM) projects to strengthen the capacity of the Government of Moldova in combating and preventing irregular migration and transnational crime.
On October 26, INL supported the opening of the North Regional Office of the Bureau for Migration and Asylum. This project benefiting Bureau for Migration and Asylum (BMA) was planned in coordination with IOM, addressing the major needs of the BMA through tailored technical support for the regional office of the recently expanded BMA structure to the North. In addition to combating irregular migration, the project focuses on enhancing the quality of support services to migrants. This project was sponsored by United States through INL and EU delegation to Moldova.
“The U.S. Embassy is proud to be one of the sponsors of this project. We will continue to support your efforts to modernize the bureau in its efforts to assist in migration and fight transnational crime” — Amb. Pettit
