U.S. Representative Steve Chabot visited Moldova August 16 to 18 as part of a trip that also includes Hungary, Estonia, and Latvia. During his visit to Moldova, Representative Chabot discussed economic and political issues with Moldovan officials, including President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, and Deputy Minister of Economy Valeriu Triboi. In a meeting with Prime Minister Strelet, Representative Chabot said, “The commitment of the United States to Moldova is a strong one… There are a lot of people watching that wish you success.”
Representative Chabot discussed Moldova’s investment climate with members of the American
Chamber of Commerce and small business owners. He also visited table grape and apple producers in Budesti to discuss Moldova’s agricultural sector.
Representative Chabot was elected to the House of Representatives from Ohio’s first congressional district in 2011. He previously served as the district’s representative from 1995 to 2009. A member of the Republican Party, Representative Chabot is currently the Chairman of the House Small Business Committee and a Senior Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. This is Representative Chabot’s first trip to Moldova.
