On March 19, 2016, a donation of 3900 textbooks and more than 670 educational classroom posters arrived in Moldova from North Carolina. This shipment of educational materials is one of the many acts of goodwill and cooperation that comprise the ongoing North Carolina-Moldova Bilateral Partnership, which began in 1999.
The books and posters will be instrumental in allowing U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers and teachers from the iEngage network to enhance local education outcomes throughout Moldova in the fields of English learning and community health. As part of the same shipment, medical books and journals have also been donated to the State University for Medicine and Pharmacy, which will support students and doctors throughout Moldova.
For over a decade, North Carolina and Moldova have engaged in numerous scientific, business, cultural and academic programs, and exchanges. One of the most successful areas of cooperation has been in the field of education. The North Carolina-Moldova Bilateral Partnership has supported two-way educational exchanges, which have led to official partnerships between schools, universities and libraries in North Carolina and Moldova.
