Chisinau, Moldova — A group of musicians from the United States Air Forces in Europe Band will perform with the National Symphony of Moldova in celebration of 25 years of strong Moldovan – American partnerships during three collaborative concerts at the Chisinau Philharmonic 19-21 October.
The concerts will feature American classical, folk, and jazz as reflections of U.S. values. During their stay, the band will also be conducting educational workshops with Moldovan students.
“We couldn’t be more excited to share this program with the kids. Music is a great way to make friends and connect people from different cultures. It brings people together,” said Captain Justin Lewis, who will conduct the concerts.
The U.S. band’s featured trombonist, Senior Master Sergeant Vladimir Tchekan, is an American Airman who was born and raised in Chisinau. “It is a huge thrill for me to come home to Moldova and play music for young people,” said Tchekan. “I hope my performance can inspire some young people in the audience to follow their dreams.”
This event is a part of a U.S. Embassy cultural series commemorating 25 years of cooperation with the Republic of Moldova.
