Renewing a Passport

To renew your passport, please provide the following:

  • Application Form:

Fill out the DS-82 Form at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/apply-renew-passport/how-to-apply.html. Unfortunately, at this time, our on-line passport application forms do not support emergency contact addresses outside the U.S.  Please complete the form using a U.S. emergency contact, or add your overseas emergency contact information by hand after printing the form.

Note that the form you print must be clear and sharp, with black print on white paper, either letter or A4 size. Thermal paper, dye-sublimation paper, special inkjet paper, and other shiny papers are not acceptable.

  • Photograph

Bring a 2″ X 2″ (or 5 cm X 5 cm) photograph. For additional information on passport photos, go to https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/photos/photos.html.

  • Old Passport

You must bring your old passport with your application. We will cancel the old passport and return it to you along with the new one.

  • Fee Payment

For a list of fees and forms used for passport applications, go to https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/information/fees.html.  We accept the payments in U.S. Dollars, Moldovan Lei, or credit card.

How Long Does It Take?

Processing time is about seven to ten days after we receive your completed application and approve it. All passports are now printed in the U.S. and must be shipped to Moldova. Because computers break, emergencies happen, and mail is sometimes delivered late, we suggest that you do not make any unchangeable travel plans until you have the new passport in hand.
