This year’s festival celebrates the great American South. We will screen 15 movies, some of which have changed the American film-making industry forever. Gone with the Wind, for example, is considered one of the greatest films of all time that triggered changes in the way African-Americans are depicted on film. To Kill a Mockingbird is another masterpiece that addresses issues of class, courage, compassion, and gender roles in the American Deep South. Among the 15 titles are dramas, comedies, action and adventure films to appeal to all interests and age groups. We hope that after experiencing these films you will better understand American society and especially the American South.
